At Sugar Club the offer starts the night, but the DJ, the lounge and a team that keeps an eye on every table are why groups come back. Tuesday’s soundtrack is the music your group chat already loves: current pop and R&B, early-2000s anthems, Arabic pop hits and a few Afrobeats tracks for good measure. The DJ keeps it light in the first part of the night so you can talk, then turns up the singalongs as the floor fills. It is less about deep cuts and more about the songs that make a whole table stand up at once.
Early in the evening, groups arrive from dinner or straight from work and settle into the lounge. Shishas come out, cocktails are poured and the music is still at talking volume. Location is a big part of it. We are behind Mall of the Emirates, so dinner or shopping can flow straight into the night without a long drive. Many of our Tuesday regulars come from the offices and apartments of Dubai Media City and Internet City, and from Dubai Marina and JLT, which are a short taxi ride away. The other part is the atmosphere. Our team looks after tables, the security team is visible and friendly, and the crowd comes to enjoy the night, not to stare at it.
