Dubai Production City, still widely known as IMPZ, is a mix of media and printing businesses and a growing number of residential towers. Rents are lower than in many central areas, which has made it popular with young professionals, but the nightlife is almost non-existent. When residents want a proper night out, they drive north. Sugar Lounge & Club in Al Barsha is about 15 minutes away, and the route is one of the simplest in the city.
Dubai Production City sits near Motor City, Sports City and Dubai Studio City, close to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. It began as a business zone for printing, publishing and media production, and residential buildings were added around it. Today it has supermarkets, cafés and a few restaurants, but residents generally leave the area for dinner and nightlife.
Umm Suqeim Street runs from the IMPZ side of the city straight north towards Al Barsha and Mall of the Emirates. Take it north, cross into Al Barsha and head to 23rd Street. At night, the trip usually takes about 15 minutes. Hessa Street is an alternative from some buildings. Ask your ride-hailing app for Montreal Barsha Hotel.
IMPZ is not on the metro, so taxis and ride-hailing are the way out. The fare to Al Barsha is reasonable, especially when shared, and drivers know the area well. If someone in your group is not drinking, parking is available at Montreal Barsha Hotel.
Many IMPZ residents work in media, printing, logistics and hospitality, often with irregular hours. Monday Madness suits that schedule: a drinks and shisha deal, a relaxed lounge and a DJ who lets the night build slowly. It is also a quiet night to try Sugar Club for the first time.
IMPZ has a lively African community, and many residents spend Sunday at our Afrobeats night in Dubai, with Afrobeats, Amapiano and Afro house until closing. It is a short drive up Umm Suqeim Street, and the trip home after the last song is just as easy.
IMPZ apartments are practical, but not party spaces. Book a table at Sugar Club and bring the birthday to a dance floor: a host, a cake moment and a DJ shout-out. Our birthday party venue in Dubai page explains how birthday tables work.
Young professionals from IMPZ and nearby Studio City often choose Wednesday hip hop and R&B, with 2000s anthems and current rap. It is busy enough to feel like a weekend, but tables are easier to book.
From Thursday to Saturday, Sugar Club hosts Arabic nights. Thursday mixes Arabic hits with international club music; Friday and Saturday are fully Arabic. Book a table ahead for these nights.
Groups from the same tower often arrive together and want a base for the night. A table gives you a host, bottle service and a view of the dance floor. Our VIP table booking in Dubai page explains minimum spends and how to reserve.
For IMPZ, Al Barsha is the closest established nightlife area, and Sugar Club is one of its few full clubs with themed nights every day. The trip is short, direct and inexpensive, and the crowd is made up of Dubai residents rather than tourists.
IMPZ sits next to Dubai Studio City and not far from Arjan and Dubai Sports City, and many residents across these communities share the same nights out. A group from IMPZ often picks up friends from Studio City or Arjan on the way to Al Barsha, which keeps the taxi cost low and the group together. Message us the total group size so we can seat everyone at one table.
If your group mixes Arab and non-Arab friends, Thursday’s Arabic International Night is a good choice. The DJ alternates between Arabic hits and international club tracks, so everyone gets their song. It is also a good night to start the weekend early if you work Sunday to Thursday.
If you prefer a quieter night, our shisha lounge in Al Barsha serves shisha every night, with comfortable seats and music at a level where you can talk. It is a good way to unwind after a long shift without committing to a late night.
Neighbours near the Autodrome can use our night club near Motor City guide, and those in Arjan can follow our night club near Al Barsha South page. All area guides are on nightlife near me, and the venue overview is on the Sugar Club homepage.
Taxis wait outside Montreal Barsha Hotel at closing, and the drive back down Umm Suqeim Street is quick at night. Give the driver your building name, as IMPZ towers can look alike. Never drive after drinking.
