Palm Jumeirah has some of Dubai’s most famous hotels, beach clubs and restaurants. It also has a problem every resident knows: the best venues are expensive, busy and full of visitors, and getting a table on a weekend can feel like a project. Sugar Lounge & Club in Al Barsha is a 15 to 20 minute drive off the island, with a themed night every day of the week, a local crowd and VIP tables at Al Barsha prices. This guide is for Palm residents and guests looking for something different.
The Palm is built in three parts: the trunk, lined with apartment towers, hotels and Nakheel Mall; the fronds, home to villas; and the crescent, where the large resorts sit, with Atlantis at its tip. The island connects to the mainland through the trunk, which joins Sheikh Zayed Road near Dubai Internet City and Al Sufouh. Everything on the Palm is a drive or a monorail ride from everything else, and leaving the island at night is usually quicker than people expect.
From the trunk, drive towards the mainland, join Sheikh Zayed Road heading towards Mall of the Emirates and exit into Al Barsha 1. From the fronds and the trunk, the trip usually takes 15 to 20 minutes at night; from the crescent resorts, allow 20 to 25 minutes. Ask for Montreal Barsha Hotel on 23rd Street. Most Palm hotels can arrange a taxi at the door.
The Palm Monorail runs along the trunk to the mainland, where it connects with the tram and, from there, the Red Line. It is a scenic ride, but with two changes it is slower than a taxi for a night out. If you use it, ride the metro towards Centrepoint to Mall of the Emirates Station. Plan a taxi home, as the monorail, tram and metro all stop before closing.
Palm nightlife is spectacular, but it comes with dress-code queues, high minimum spends and crowds that change every week. Sugar Club offers a different kind of night: a full club with resident DJs and themed nights, a lounge with shisha, and tables with bottle service at friendlier prices. For Palm residents who go out often, it is a regular alternative to the island’s big-name venues.
Palm Jumeirah attracts many visitors from across the GCC, especially at weekends and during holidays. Our Arabic night club nights from Thursday to Saturday are the natural choice: Khaleeji anthems, Levantine pop, Egyptian classics and a room that sings every chorus. Book a table ahead for Friday and Saturday, our busiest nights.
For Palm residents planning a girls’ night, Tuesday is the best option. Our ladies night in Dubai offers free cocktails and shisha for ladies, with a playlist built for singalongs. It is a relaxed alternative to the island’s crowded ladies nights, and an easy taxi ride back to the Palm afterwards.
Villa parties on the fronds are a Palm tradition, but sometimes you want someone else to handle the music, bar and clean-up. Sugar Club can reserve a section for your group or, on selected dates, discuss full venue hire. Our private party venue in Dubai page explains how we host birthdays, bachelor parties and corporate nights.
If you are staying at one of the Palm resorts and want a night that is not in your hotel, Sugar Club is a short drive away. Ask the concierge for a taxi to Montreal Barsha Hotel in Al Barsha 1, bring your passport as ID and dress smart casual. Check our weekly line-up to choose the night, or message us on WhatsApp for a table.
Palm groups are used to table service, and so are we. Reserve a table and you get a host, bottle service, shisha and a view of the dance floor. Our VIP table booking in Dubai page explains how minimum spend works and how to reserve.
Midweek nights at Sugar Club are easy for walk-ins and tables: Monday Madness with its drinks and shisha deal, Wednesday hip hop and R&B, and Sunday Afrobeats and Amapiano. They are popular with Palm residents who work in hospitality and have weekends during the week.
Friends on the beach side can use our night club near JBR guide, and those near the Palm junction can follow our night club near Al Sufouh page. All area guides are on nightlife near me, and the venue overview is on the Sugar Club.
Taxis wait outside Montreal Barsha Hotel at closing, and the drive back to the Palm along Sheikh Zayed Road is quick at night. Tell the driver your frond number or tower name. Never drive after drinking; Dubai has zero tolerance.
