Al Sufouh stretches along the coast between Umm Suqeim and Dubai Media City, with beach resorts on one side of Al Sufouh Road and Dubai Knowledge Park and its universities on the other. It is a district of beach clubs, campuses and residential pockets, and evenings here can be quiet once the beach venues close. Sugar Lounge & Club is about 10 minutes away, across Sheikh Zayed Road in Al Barsha 1. This guide is for residents, students, staff and hotel guests in Al Sufouh who want a night club close by.
From Knowledge Park and the inland side of Al Sufouh, cross Sheikh Zayed Road towards Mall of the Emirates and drive into Al Barsha 1. At night it is usually 8 to 12 minutes by taxi. From the beach resorts on Al Sufouh Road, allow a few extra minutes. Ask for Montreal Barsha Hotel, 23rd Street. The crossing over Sheikh Zayed Road is the only real obstacle, and at night it moves quickly.
The Dubai Tram runs along Al Sufouh Road and connects to the Red Line at the Marina end. From most of Al Sufouh, though, it is quicker to take a taxi straight to the venue than to combine tram and metro. If you do use the metro, Dubai Internet City and Mall of the Emirates are the nearest Red Line stations. Plan a taxi home, as public transport stops before closing time.
Dubai Knowledge Park and the surrounding area host universities and training institutes with a large international student and staff population. Many students are under 21, and Dubai’s licensing rules mean all our guests must be 21 or over with original ID. For those who are 21 and over, midweek nights are the most popular: our hip hop night in Dubai on Wednesday and Tuesday’s ladies night are easy on the budget and full of energy.
Al Sufouh’s beach clubs and resort bars are perfect at sunset, but many close early or keep the music low. Sugar Club picks up where they leave off. Head over after the beach, start with a shisha in the lounge and stay for the DJ. On Tuesdays, our ladies night in Dubai offers free cocktails and shisha for ladies, a popular follow-up to a beach day with friends.
Graduations, end-of-term parties, staff farewells and alumni reunions often need a venue that can take a big group without a long journey. Sugar Club can reserve a section for your group and help with the guest list, cake and DJ shout-outs. Our private party venue in Dubai page explains the options, including corporate packages for university and company staff.
The beach resorts on Al Sufouh Road are a short drive from Al Barsha. If you are staying here and want a night out that is not in your hotel, ask the concierge for a taxi to Montreal Barsha Hotel and check our weekly line-up first. Weekend Arabic nights are the busiest; weeknights are more relaxed and easier for walk-ins. Bring your passport as ID.
Al Sufouh runs between Umm Suqeim and Media City, with Al Sufouh Road and its beach resorts along the coast, the Palm Jumeirah junction at its northern end and Dubai Knowledge Park inland. Residential pockets sit between the hotels and campuses. The area is well connected by road and tram but has very few late-night venues of its own, which is why a short trip to Al Barsha is the usual plan for a night out.
From Thursday to Saturday, Sugar Club hosts Arabic nights, with Khaleeji, Levantine and Egyptian hits and a room full of tables singing along. Thursday’s Arabic International Night mixes in international club tracks for mixed groups. If you are coming from a resort or apartment in Al Sufouh with friends, book a table in advance, as weekends fill up. See our Arabic night club in Dubai page for details.
If you are closer to the offices of Media City and Internet City, see our night club near Dubai Media City guide. If you live in the villas to the south, our night club near Umm Suqeim page covers your routes. Every other area is on our nightlife near me page, and the venue overview is on the Sugar Club homepage.
Taxis wait outside the hotel at closing, and the drive back to Al Sufouh is short. Students and groups should agree a ride home before the night starts. Never drink and drive; Dubai has zero tolerance.
