Jumeirah is one of Dubai’s oldest and most established residential areas, stretching along the coast from the edge of the city centre towards Umm Suqeim. Jumeirah 1, 2 and 3, along with Al Safa and Al Wasl inland, are home to villas, boutique cafés, beach parks and some of the city’s best-known neighbourhood restaurants. The nightlife, though, is limited. Sugar Lounge & Club in Al Barsha is about 15 to 20 minutes away, and for many Jumeirah residents it is the easiest full club to reach.
Jumeirah runs between the beach and Sheikh Zayed Road, with Jumeirah Beach Road along the coast and Al Wasl Road inland. Jumeirah 1 is closest to the city, near La Mer and the Etihad Museum area; Jumeirah 2 and 3 run south towards Umm Suqeim. Al Safa, with Safa Park, sits inland near City Walk and Box Park. The area is known for its villas, families and long-time residents, and its evenings centre on dinner rather than dancing.
From Jumeirah 2, 3 and Al Safa, Al Wasl Road or Sheikh Zayed Road towards Mall of the Emirates is the quickest route, usually 15 to 20 minutes at night. From Jumeirah 1 and the City Walk end, Sheikh Zayed Road heading south is direct. Exit at Mall of the Emirates and drive into Al Barsha 1. Ask for Montreal Barsha Hotel, 23rd Street.
Jumeirah is home to a large Emirati and Arab community, and our weekend Arabic night club nights are the natural choice for many residents. Thursday is Arabic International Night, mixing Arabic and international club music; Friday and Saturday are fully Arabic, with Khaleeji, Levantine and Egyptian hits. Book a table ahead, as these are our busiest nights.
For Jumeirah residents planning a girls’ night, our ladies night in Dubai on Tuesday offers free cocktails and shisha for ladies. Many groups have dinner at a Jumeirah restaurant or at City Walk, then head to Al Barsha for the rest of the night.
City Walk, Box Park and La Mer are popular for dinner and evening walks, but most of their restaurants wind down by midnight. Sugar Club is the next stop: a short drive along Sheikh Zayed Road to a full club with a lounge, a dance floor and late hours. Change into smart casual if you have been at the beach.
Many Jumeirah guests prefer to start slowly, with shisha and conversation. Our shisha lounge in Al Barsha serves shisha every night, with comfortable seating and music at a level where you can talk. When you are ready, the dance floor is a few steps away.
Jumeirah groups often celebrate with family and friends together. A reserved table gives you a host, bottle service or mocktails, shisha and a view of the dance floor. Our VIP table booking in Dubai page explains how minimum spend works and how to reserve.
Jumeirah has boutique hotels and guesthouses popular with visitors who want to stay near the beach and the old city. If you are staying here, Sugar Club is a short taxi ride away. Bring your passport as ID, dress smart casual and check our weekly line-up before you go.
Not every night has to be a weekend. Monday Madness offers a drinks and shisha deal, Wednesday is hip hop and R&B, and Sunday is Afrobeats and Amapiano. These nights are easier for walk-ins and tables, and a good introduction to Sugar Club for first-time guests from Jumeirah.
From Jumeirah, the alternatives are the big downtown venues or the beach clubs, both busy and expensive at peak times. Al Barsha is a short, easy drive with a local crowd, themed nights, and friendlier table prices. For many Jumeirah families, it is also reassuring that the venue is in a well-known hotel in an established neighbourhood.
Jumeirah Beach Road is lined with cafés, juice bars and casual restaurants that stay busy into the evening, especially in the cooler months. It is a pleasant place to start a night, but most venues close by midnight. When the beach road quietens down, Sugar Club is a short drive inland, with a full bar, shisha and music until late.
Many Jumeirah families mark engagements, graduations and milestone birthdays with dinner at home or at a favourite restaurant, then send the younger adults out to continue the celebration. Sugar Club is a reliable place for that second half of the night: a well-known hotel venue, a reserved table, a DJ dedication in Arabic or English and taxis at the door at closing.
Neighbours to the south can use our night club near Umm Suqeim guide, and friends closer to the city centre can follow our night club near Downtown Dubai page. All area guides are on nightlife near me, and the venue overview is on the Sugar Club.
Taxis wait outside Montreal Barsha Hotel at closing, and the drive back to Jumeirah is quick at night. Never drive after drinking; take a taxi or use a safe-driver service.
