Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City are home to the regional offices of global tech, media and advertising companies, and thousands of people finish work here every evening. Some head straight home; others want somewhere to unwind that is more than an office bar. Sugar Lounge & Club in Al Barsha is about 10 minutes away, inside Montreal Barsha Hotel on 23rd Street. This guide covers the quickest routes from Media City and Internet City and the nights that suit an after-work crowd.
From the Media City and Internet City office clusters, take Sheikh Zayed Road towards Mall of the Emirates, then turn into Al Barsha 1. Outside rush hour the trip is usually 8 to 12 minutes. Ride-hailing pick-ups are quick from the business parks, and the drop-off at Montreal Barsha Hotel is right at the door. Groups leaving the office together can share one larger car.
Dubai Internet City Station on the Red Line is two stops from Mall of the Emirates Station. If you leave the office in the early evening, the metro is quick and cheap. From Mall of the Emirates, walk through Al Barsha 1 or take a short taxi to 23rd Street. For the trip home, take a taxi, because the metro closes before we do.
The best after-work nights have a plan. Start in our lounge with a shisha and a drink while the rest of the team arrives. On Mondays, Monday Madness gives you a drinks and shisha deal that makes the first night of the week easier. On Tuesdays, our ladies night in Dubai brings free cocktails and shisha for ladies, which makes it a favourite for women’s networking groups and teams celebrating a win.
Media City and Internet City companies celebrate often: product launches, campaign wins, new hires and leaving parties. Sugar Club can reserve tables or a section for your team, close enough that nobody has a long journey. Book through our VIP table booking in Dubai page, and tell us if you need an invoice for the company. Midweek bookings are easier and have lower minimum spends.
The people who work in Media City come from everywhere, and so do their playlists. That suits our week: Arabic nights from Thursday to Saturday, hip hop and R&B on Wednesday and Afrobeats and Amapiano on Sunday. If your team has mixed tastes, Thursday’s Arabic International Night blends Arabic hits with international club tracks, so everyone gets their song.
Media City is surrounded by residential areas, from the apartments of Al Sufouh and the Greens to the towers of the Marina. If you live nearby, Sugar Club is one of the closest full night clubs, and a simple taxi ride home after closing. Many residents use us as their local spot for the lounge on weeknights and the dance floor at the weekend.
Media City has good bars and restaurants, but few late-night venues with a real dance floor and themed nights. A short trip to Al Barsha gives you a full club with resident DJs, VIP tables and shisha, without the queues and prices of the larger superclubs. For a team or a group of friends, it is the easiest way to turn a quiet evening into a night out.
Thursday is when Media City lets go of the week. Many offices hold informal drinks after work, and by the time those wind down, the question is always the same: where next? Our Thursday Arabic International Night is a good answer. It blends Arabic hits with international club music, so a team from ten different countries can all find their song. Start in the lounge, move to the dance floor, and let the weekend begin properly.
Not every work night needs a dance floor. Our lounge is a comfortable place for smaller meetings that run into the evening: a client drink, a catch-up with an old colleague or an informal team chat. The music is lower in the first part of the night, the seating is relaxed and shisha is available. If the evening turns into a celebration, the dance floor is a few steps away.
Colleagues living on the other side of Sheikh Zayed Road can use our night club in Barsha Heights guide. Friends coming from the waterfront can follow our night club near Dubai Marina page. All 30 neighbourhood guides are on nightlife near me, and the venue overview is on our Sugar Club homepage.
